Bernard Mont’s “Nowhere Faster” sprintracer featured on Pipeburn

THE LOW ROAD.

More than 100 years ago Intrepid Birdmen in aircraft cobbled together from anything they could find were taking to the skies in air races, this just a few years after aviation was even a thing. And just like ‘Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines’ a new breed of adrenaline junkies with the skills to build incredible contraptions are at it again. They’re called the ‘Sultans of Sprint’ and the asphalt 1/8th mile is the troposphere where they do battle, on bikes as bananas as those old planes. Very few fulfil that centuries old ethos like Belgium’s Bernard Mont and in 2018 he’s returned with a lay down and mash the gas, hub-centre steer Ducati. It’s known as Nowhere Faster […] ”

Kraftstoffschmiede’s ‘Hercules’ BMW R850R Sprint Racer on Pipeburn !

“They call it ‘group therapy for speed freaks on two wheels’ and with the 2018 season just weeks away from commencing, the heavy hitters are rolling in for a fresh dose of petrol powered psychotherapy. The Sultans of Sprint drag race series will kick off in Monza, Italy, with a weekend of 1/8th mile action and one of the original campaigners is back again chasing glory. German BMW maestro Philipp Ludwig returns having spent the winter months fine tuning his steed at the small workshop that’s home to Team Kraftstoffschmiede.
Now ‘Hercules’ is ready to slay them in style, defying the once beyond bland BMW R850R that left the production line in 1998.”

Indian Motorcycle to enter the FTR1200 in the Sultans of Sprint “Factory Class”

Indian Motorcycle to enter the FTR1200 in the Sultans of Sprint "Factory Class"

Six months ago, Indian Motorcycle revealed one of the most exciting custom motorcycles ever built to celebrate their return to flat track racing and winning the championship.

In those six months over thirty thousand comments made on social media have confirmed the FTR1200 Custom’s popularity, so Indian has decided to bring it to Europe to compete in the Sultans of Sprint races and ask our EU fans the all-important question: “Should Indian build this bike?”.

With #speedisoureligion as its hashtag, the Sultans of Sprint series bring together the best bike builders from the new custom bike scene in Europe in to race and to party at key festivals in Italy, Belgium, Germany and France.

The series has a number of categories of sprint racing, with the Scout FTR1200 Custom able to enter the newly created Factory Class.

In this Factory Class, motorcycles must be four-stroke (air or water cooled) and there is no limit regarding the engine capacity providing that the tuned bike does not exceed a specific power-to-weight ratio.

Bikes in the Factory Class can either be customised by private workshops or can be entered by a manufacturer as an ‘in house’ custom built racer.

Grant Bester, VP and General Manager for Indian in EMEA says he is thrilled to be able to bring the FTR1200 Custom back over in to Europe. “We’ve been overwhelmed by the response to this bike, so to finally be able to let people see and hear it race in the Sultans of Sprint really excites everyone working at Indian,” he says. “We’ll be racing it in four key countries, Italy, Belgium, Germany and France, and we cannot wait to see people’s reactions when they see this sprint race.”

You’ll be able to see the FTR1200 Custom in action at The Reunion event in Italy in May, followed by Biker’s Classics in Spa in July, then Glemseck in early September and finally the Dandy Riders festival in France in late September. Indian also plans to have the bike on static display in the UK at The Bike Shed and during Wheels & Waves in France.

Sultans of Sprint founder, Sébastian Lorentz says: I am very excited to welcome Indian Motorcycle in the Sultans of Sprint challenge within the new FACTORY CLASS that we have just launched this season. I think that the combination of sprint racing and creativity is a perfect match between Indian Motorcycle and Sultans of Sprint. We are super happy to have the Indian Motorcycle team with the race number #12 which will be added on the Indian FTR1200 to compete for this season. This custom bike is really a show stopper and I am sure it will be exciting to watch on our 1/8-mile races all over Europe this summer.”

#46 Kraftstoffschmiede #17 Lucky Cat Garage & #3 Libner Racing winners !!!

Sultans of Sprint 2016 "STYLE & ENGINEERING" Award

Rewarding the style and technology of motorcycles  involved in the 2017 Sultans Of Sprint Challenge was the objective of this contest, which results were announced at Spa Francorchamps as part of Spa Bikers Classic.

The special jury is made up of Fred Krugger, the famous custom bike builder from Belgium is also 2 times AMD Custom Bike World Champion,  Sacha Lakic, designer & motorcycle enthusiast also founder of Blacktrack Motors,  Jens Vom Brauck, founder & designer from JvB-moto, and last but not least Jean-Claude Barrois, a great motorfreaker who’s a bit our motorcycle guru and a french Bonneville speed record heroe.

The vote took place in two stages, one in which the challenge contenders voted for their peers, and a second where the jury met to elect those who would have the privilege of receiving the ‘Style & Engineering’ Award.

The 2017 winners are:

1st tie: # 46 Kraftstoffschmiede ‘Hercules’ and # 17 Lucky Cat Garage ‘Bombinette’

2nd: # 3 Libner Racing ‘Dragonfly’

A big rounds of congratulations to these three machines, their builders and their pilots. And to all competitors of the Sultans Of Sprint challenge who combine in joy and good humor, passion, race and fun in the most beautiful manner.

Many thanks to VIRAGE 8  for the kind words  & Venom Design for the trophies !

2017 Sultans of Sprint “Style & Engineering” Award.

2017 "STYLE & ENGINEERING" AWARD

rewarding technic & style of the 2017 Sultans of Sprint racers !

Judging is by ‘peer-group-review’ in addition to a special jury. That is to say that it is mainly the Sultans of Sprint contenders themselves who choose the winner of this award. For sure it’s not allowed to vote for his own team … but we thought it was a quite fair rule inspired by international bike shows. Votes are evaluating both engineering & technical solutions on one hand but also design & style on the other hand.

All are also very good friends and Sultans of Sprint challenge strong supporters !

The winner of our “Style & Engineering Award” will be announced during Sultans of Sprint round #3 2017 | Biker’s Classics (BE) on saturday 1st july in the Bikers’ Classics Lifestyle Village & released on the web by our friends from Virage8.com.

Sultans of Sprint finals @ Intermot Customized !

Awesome times & tons of laughs in Cologne !

Intermot in Cologne hosted the Sultans of Sprint challenge 2016 finals and all the Sultans race bikes were presented on a dedicated area of 285 square meters in hall 10.1 “Intermot Customized”. This was a big chance for all the Sultans of Sprint racers to show their crazy fast machines in details and to share their passion with all the visitors of this very important show within the motorcycle industry.
Hand built with 100 wood pallets by Venom Design, Young Guns Speed Shop, St-Brooklyn Motorcycles & Lucky Cat Garage, the booth was enhanced by our friends from Mahr’s Brau who kindly supported by fresh beers. The Sultans of Sprint booth was also great thanks to our partner Instantané which printed great photos for our walls.

Just before the race sunday morning all the Sultans of Sprint were invited to Amadeus Speed Shop for a wonderful party in Cologne. Thumbs up to the Amadeus Speed Shop crew & Jens von JVB Motos for the organization & invitation ! This was a proper party for all the Sultans !

Schlachtwerk's Yamaha "Skinny Beast" faster than ever !

For safety reasons the Sultans of Sprint race on sunday was this time against the clock and not side by side. A new way of racing for the contenders but interesting to see how fast each of the racers gan go on 160 meters for this round …

This time Tommy from Schlachtwerk (GER) on his Yamaha “Skinny Beast” was the fastest just in front of Marco Zesiger from Young Guns Speed Shop (CH) on his Moto Guzzi “Ferdinand the Sparrow”. Seb Lorentz from Lucky Cat Garage (FR) and the BMW “Sprintbeemer” completed the podium with the third place.
Hero of the day Ludwig Asher struggled to start his BMW “L’Etonnante” despite the help of other contenders. He never gave up but did not manage to take the start this time.

FCR Original team (FR) with their “Crazy Bonnie” had to face some traction issue and did not manage to do better than eight position despite some really impressive starts ! Same situation for Radical Guzzi (GER) and their insane “NOSferatu” which suffered from their rear tyre grip to get a better result.

Scary factor award goes to Radical Guzzi !

Scary Factor online #fanboost was won by Young Guns Speed Shop but the swiss team decided to gave it to their friends from Radical Guzzi (GER) for their efforts to frighten the competitors on the starting grid with their insane Moto Guzzi “NOSferatu” :
That’s Sultants of Sprint fairplay spirit.

Young Guns Speed Shop winning the Sultans of Sprint 2016 !

Congratulations to the youngest rider for an awesome season !

Young Guns Speed Shop team from Switzerland did really well during the all year: clutch blown at Cafe Racer Festival in Monthléry (FR) but they got the #fanboost award for the “Crew Style”. Probably thanks to their hawaian shirts and smiles !
At Glemseck 101 in Leonberg (GER) in september, Marco was flying to the first place on “Ferdinand the Sparrow” which was back in the game and loaded with nitrous oxyde.
For the final round at Intermot in Cologne (GER), the swiss team was ready to battle again and Marco took really impressive starts allowing their Moto Guzzi to take the second place behind the always fast Yamaha “Skinny Beast” from Schlachtwerk (GER). The last round was giving double points to the participants and the 2016 Sultans of Sprint champion title and the pressure was at his maximum for the fastest team. Marco took it easy and kept cool to take the best out of the swiss bird !
